INFORMATION ABOUT THE WINDS
What to know when renting a sailing boat in the Cyclades islands about the weather of the archipelago, the predominant local wind (Meltemi), usually blows from north-northeast and, during the day, until the sun rises it becomes more strong, but in the evening the wind calms down completely. From mid-July to the end of August the Meltemi is much more intense.

Kea
Even though it is close to the mainland, the island maintains the typical Cycladic colour. The Chora is built amphitheatrically, on the top of the hill, just 5 kilometers from the main port, and offers spectacular views of the islands and the Greek coast. The inhabitants of Kea are mainly involved in livestock raising and beekeeping.

Syros Ermoupolis (the Chora)
It is the capital city for all the Cycladic islands. A very beautiful city with important buildings, such as the Palazzo Comunale (designed by Ziller the German architect) and the Teatro Comunale which is a miniature copy of the Scala in Milan. Ano Syros i.e. the upper part of Ermoupolis still retains its medieval characteristics and also offers spectacular views of the city, the port and the sea.

Paros
A tourist island where everything is beautiful, the traditional houses, protected nature, the blue color of the domes, the beaches, the daily life of the islanders which has not been influenced by tourism and so on. In addition to numerous small coves there are two large bays. One to the north with the village of Naoussa and the other to the west with the city of Parikia. Naousa is one of the most beautiful villages in the Cyclades, with white houses, narrow paved streets.

Milos
A horseshoe island with enchanting beaches. The island became known above all thanks to the discovery in the 19th century of the masterpiece statue of "Aphrodite (Venus) of Milo". The statue is now kept in a very prominent location in the Louvre museum in Paris. There are various types of beaches on the island, some with golden sand and others with sharp stones and caves that seem to have come out of some fantasy story.

Kythnos
Fig trees, vines and wonderful bays interrupt the mountain landscape. Beyond the main port of Merichas, there is also a beautiful new marina in the village of Loutra, also known for its thermal springs.

Mykonos
The famous island where cosmopolitan life does not stop either day or night. White streets, uniquely shaped houses, small wooden fishing boats moored near expensive mega-yachts, picturesque Cycladic churches, taverns, silver beaches, windmills and so on are just some of the attractions for all visitors. Intellectuals, well-known artists and movie stars from all over the world prefer the island for their holidays.

I o s
A typical Cycladic island. A pretty port, narrow alleys, windmills, traditional white houses, vineyards and olive groves in the hinterland. Sandy beaches with crystal clear sea. A nightlife paradise for young people, whether in the port of Gialos town or in the Chora on the hill.

Folegandros
A small rocky island where the wild beauty of the arid landscape and huge rocks alternate with sandy beaches.

Santorini(Thira)
The island is world famous like Mykonos, but completely different from any other island, thanks to its geological morphology. In ancient times, the island was named Strongili (round due to its shape). The oldest eruption of the volcano was in 1500 BC, when most of the island was submerged. In the 3rd century BC, another explosion broke off the islet of Thirassia, while in the 2nd century BC, a new explosion created the volcanic island of Palea (old) Kammeni, a narrow sea passage separates Santorini Palea Kameni (the dormant volcano) can easily be visited with a dinghy. The hilltop Chora of Santorini can be visited on foot climbing hundreds of steps or on a donkey or funicular. Chora is typical of the Cyclades and a very attractive town, while the view to Kameni, or to the other side of the island, is truly spectacular.
